One Phat DJ Podcast Comes To An End

All good things must come to an end. It’s a marvellous cliché that seems rather apt with the announcement I am about to make…

The September 2008 mix of the One Phat DJ Podcast will, unfortunately, be the last - ever!

It’s been a difficult decision to make after three years of podcasting but it’s a decision I have to make for the greater good. Personal circumstances have changed and the music and media industry are establishing tighter regulations with regards to sharing and broadcasting online.

I have gained a huge following from listeners worldwide, with positive support from producers, artists and label owners far and wide, even setting trends according to some.

As those close to me already know, it’s something I’ve been considering long and hard - I’m particularly sad about it, to be honest. I’ve loved producing the podcast, not only for the reception it receives but as I also thoroughly enjoy the music featured and especially enjoy mixing.

This isn’t to say it’s the end of One Phat DJ though - just the end of the regular podcast schedule. I shall be working to get back into DJing live around the UK so keep checking back to the official One Phat DJ website and Facebook Group for the latest on that. There are also several spin-off projects in the pipeline too - these will be announced as and when they’re launched.

So, be sure to download the final mix of the One Phat DJ Podcast, scheduled for release on Friday 12th September 2008 at 7pm BST. For those who are subscribed in iTunes, it will automatically download for you. For those who aren’t, what have you been doing all this time? Subscribe now and enjoy the last 51 mixes while you’re at it.

One Phat DJ celebrates The Finalé

Finally, thank you for all the support during the project. It couldn’t - and wouldn’t - have happened without the 1,800 regular subscribers and thousands of downloads every month. Knowing so many people were enjoying the music, eagerly awaiting each mix, has been my main motivation. It’s so rewarding it reached such heights, mostly for the love.

Everybody loves house music!

  2. Sad, sad news Si.
Frankly amazed that you have been able to devote so much energy to it over the last few years with work and family commitments - gawd knows I would have struggled.
Keep playing the music - it’s in your soul!!

  5. Si, just a sincere thanks to the many hours, and i mean hours of enjoyment you have provided me for the last couple of years. I first downloaded the “Turkey Project” before mine and my new wife’s honeymoon back in 2006 and it’s sort of become our “honeymoon” mix, it’s one i play over and over again while remembering being sat on the beach. It’s things like that you can never put a price on. Good luck in everything you do. i’m subscribed to the facebook group. if you’re ever in the north west, i’ll be there. Keep ya chin up lad and keep on mixing!!! i’m sure you have many good things to come……

I look forward to seeing OPDJ live in action ; )

  9. Nooo! What am I going to have on endless loop in my car now?

Seriously, Thanks for your brilliant mixes over the years! I was always planning on knocking up some artwork for one one day, but alas, not to be.

  11. Gutted to hear this but respect your decision. Thanks for all the awesome mixes you have provided us with - your time and dedication is 100% appreciated! Not sure what I’m going to do without my regular dose of funky house music…however, I’m looking forward to the one-off projects you have planned.

  12. Its a shame you are calling it a day. All good things must come to an end and I suppose at least you are going out with a bang. Glad you got to make your 50th episode. That in itself is an achievement. Your podcast was one of the few out there that really inspired me with my own podcast because it was the only one out there that was actually any good. Stay in touch.

  13. The end of regular podcasts is a saddening thought, but as long as One Phat DJ Lives on to mix again, all is good! It’s going to be a bit upsetting without my regular funky house fix though :(
Thanks for the prospect of something in the future - So long as you’ll still be in the scene, there is no reason to get too upset.

All the best for the future

  14. I don’t think I’ll be far behind you tbh mate. Thinking about it, after paying for tunes, hosting, and podcast license means less money to play with when it comes to snowboarding season :) Not worth the hassle of a nasty law suit either as I am sure they’ll catch up soon, esp with what I have been hearing from a source I have ;)
Need to make sure you get your a$$ up to my end of the country for a nice cold one soon.

    Respect. Stay Safe.

  21. Gutted, dude!! Have really enjoyed your funky beats. My top two favourite mixes: 1) ‘Beautiful Beats’ - uplifting in the best possible way. Every tune was awesome, and the mix class. 2) ‘Two Be in Love’ - the whole thing is good, but the first track is sublime, Axwell, I Found You - first time i heard it was on here. On liseting 134 its still as good!

Hope you get yerself DJing over here in New York soon…

I have relatives in the UK, so next time I’m over, I hope you’re spinning somewhere, too.

I am Geordie lad living in Atlanta and I can tell you first hand that none of the tunes here come even close to the banging mixes you have knocked out over the last couple of years……. I greatly look forward to the come back. Si if you ever find a set in Atlanat let me know I will be there with all the gang….PeaceOutPlayer

  30. I’m sad to hear that the monthly podcasts have come to a end. They have been eagerly awaited by many of us fans. I’m sure you had good reasons for not continuing, and trust your decision.

Best of luck to you and yours in the future and hopefully you’ll keep spinning and mixing.
