Resolutions are pointless

I don’t believe in New Year resolutions. They rarely last past the end of January so it seems pointless in pretending I’m going to keep them. Instead I have promised myself I will achieve certain realistic goals by the end of the year such as…

  1. I will release a proper redesign of my website at some point, rather than this hybrid attempt I am constantly adding to.
  2. I will keep releasing the monthly podcast - and on time too!
  3. I will get more exercise (hopefully Oscar will be a helping hand in that as I don’t want him to become a telly addict).
  4. I will drink less coffee (it was getting to a point last year I was drinking five cups a day!)
  5. I will become more organised, in work and life generally (inspired by Andy’s resolution).
  6. I will learn proper Object Oriented Programming and build a project from scratch using it.
  7. I will make more of the Multipack, exploring new approaches and paths with the brand and the group.
  8. I will manage an official Multipack collaboration project.
  9. I will concentrate on personal projects and aim to get at least one idea launched by the end of 2007.
  10. I will learn to be a Dad and spend any leftover time with my family.

I think they seem realistic enough and achievable. Let’s leave it a year and look over them next January to see if any of them failed.

  1. For your Object Oriented Programming resolution, take a look at Wirfs Brock Responsibility driven design at http://www.wirfs-brock.com/Resources.html. It’s a smart way to define your objects in your design so that during development you’ll be less inclined to modify them later on in the dev cycle. :-) … Superb mix as always in this months podcast… keep on boppin!
Great pictures of your little one. I too know the joy a little one brings :-)
