For Sale - One Phat DJ’s Decks

I’ve thought about it long and hard. It’s been tough working out whether it was the right idea. I’ve finally come to a decision. I’m selling my decks.

That’s right - One Phat DJ is giving up his pride and joy and allowing someone else to inherit the tools that made him the iTunes favourite, podcast-tastic DJ he is today.

Alright - I won’t milk it any more.

It was quite a hard decision to make though. It’s like giving up your first car. It’s so hard to let go of something that you hold so dear but time’s change. To be quite frank, they’ve not seen any proper action for over six months so are just sitting there going to waste. I think its high time I passed them on to someone else who will actually get some wear out of them.

Rather than spend hours (or even days) setting up a bidding script on my own website, I went all commercial and put them on eBay - a pair of Gemini XL-500 Mark IIs including mixer with the starting price of £100.

One Phat DJ’s Gemini XL-500 MkII

At present, there are no bids taken but it has only been on for a day. If you’re genuinely interested in purchasing them, put in a bid on eBay. You have until 13:42 on Sunday 1st July 2007 (British Summer Time) so get in quick.

Bear in mind the weight of them too - postage will be ridiculous on two hefty decks so collection is really preferred. By the time the bidding closed, we should be in the new house so think about getting to Rugby in Warwickshire (it’s pretty central with the M6 and M1 nearby so not too difficult).

It’ll be hard saying goodbye to my babies but I’m sure they’ll go to a good home. So long my pretties!

    A sad day indeed.
    Good luck with everything.

    Hey mate,
    What mixer is it?

    Si

    Si, does this mean:

    a) You’re not DJing any more?
    b) You are DJ-ing, but you only use digital (Traktor DJ or summat)
    c) You are still DJ-ing, but you have a better set of decks?

I wouldn’t give mine up. Admittedly, my record collection is stuck in a early hip hop and rave/breakbeat timewarp between 1988-1994 and my 1210s see less action than a 1-legged syphilitic Amsterdam prostitute (or maybe there is a call for that?), but I still wouldn’t part with them. Oh no. Wrong diddly wrong.

@Si P: There are actually two mixers waiting for a shipment request - a Synergy mixer (not very well known but does a damn good job) and a basic Gemini mixer too.

@Ian: Option B is the correct answer. Do not fret Phat Fans - the podcast will continue (if a little late this month for obvious reasons). The decks are only used for parties but my new lifestyle doesn’t allow for many parties any more. If a DJ request does crop up, I tend to go for digital.
