All for charidee, mate!
Anyone who knows me will notice the wristbands I’ve been wearing this year. Yes, I’ve jumped on the bandwagon and got myself several worthwhile wristbands to raise awareness for several charities I feel passionate about:
- The first one I got was Radio 1’s blue Beat Bullying wristband. As a youngster, I was on the receiving end of bullying many a time so I feel quite strongly about this one.
- After I saw a documentary about poverty in Africa on BBC1 one night, it really upset me to think that people who should be like you and me are still being punished by their own governments in today’s society. I got on to the Make Poverty History website immediately and ordered one of their white bands.
- A few months back, Lizzy did the Race For Life for her mum (and soon to be my mum-in-law!) who suffered from cancer when Lizzy was a kid. It amazed me to see so many women coming together and doing something on a Sunday morning either for loved ones or just to help the charity. I got myself a pink wristband while I was there. (Before I get any dodgy comments, I’m in touch with my feminine side so I’m quite happy to wear pink items of clothing.)
I received an email this morning about helping Breast Cancer research simply by clicking a link on a website:
The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on “donating a mammogram” for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn’t cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.
If you’re reading this, please just spend a few seconds clicking the link. It doesn’t cost you anything and it could make the difference for people who need the help.
